Neuroscience
Every decision is made by a brain
before it is made by a person.
Neuroscience is often reduced to brain scans and dopamine. What I work with is broader: how perception, stress and behaviour are shaped before anyone starts to think. That takes more than one discipline, so I draw on neuroscience and its neighbours: genetics, neurochemistry, neuroanatomy, psychology, psychiatry, evolutionary biology and sociology.
It helps to think of the brain as hardware running software. The hardware has barely changed in tens of thousands of years. The software is written by experience and runs automatically, and under load the system falls back on its oldest routines. What then looks like resistance is usually a processing problem, not an attitude.
I do not teach this. I use it to read what is running in a team and put it into language people can work with. What you gain is a sharper picture of what you are actually managing: friction nobody could locate becomes something you can name, and meetings stop repeating themselves.
A leadership team cannot read its own filters. Blind spots do not sit where people are unsure, they sit where they are competent and certain, which is why they survive every internal review. Most organisations pay for that twice: once in the friction, once in the fixes that never held.
A first conversation takes thirty minutes, and there is nothing to prepare.
